Your drawings stay yours

In plain English: what happens to the drawings you open in Read Any Drawing.

DWG and DXF drawings: never uploaded

  • Viewing a DWG or DXF drawing, the 3D view, measuring and layers all happen on your device.
  • DWG files are converted on your device too. The first time, the app downloads the converter; your drawing is never sent anywhere.
  • Nothing from these drawings is sent to us or to anyone else.

Saved drawings: on this device only

  • Drawings you open are saved in this browser on this device, so they open without internet. We don't have a copy.
  • Remove one any time under My drawings (the bin button). Clearing this site's data in your browser, or uninstalling the app, removes them all.

Reading a PDF with AI (paid plan): sent to Anthropic

This is the only feature that sends anything off your device, and only when you press Read this drawing with AI.

  • What is sent: pictures of the PDF's pages, the text in the PDF and the file name.
  • Where it goes: through our server to Anthropic, the company that makes the Claude AI, using their paid business service (the "API"). Our server passes it on and does not keep the pictures or the answer.
  • The answer is saved on your device with the PDF, so you can see it again without internet.

What Anthropic does with it

From Anthropic's own terms and privacy pages, checked on 30 October 2026:

  • No AI training. Under Anthropic's Commercial Terms, Anthropic may not train its AI models on what we send or on the answers it gives.
  • Deleted within 30 days. Anthropic automatically deletes what we send, and its answer, from its systems within 30 days.
  • Exceptions. If Anthropic's automatic safety checks flag a request as breaking its usage rules, Anthropic can keep it for up to 2 years (and the safety scores for up to 7 years). It can also keep data longer where the law requires.

If a drawing is confidential and must not leave your company, don't use AI reading for it. Everything else in the app keeps your drawings on your device.

Everything else

  • No account, no adverts, no tracking.
  • The app is delivered by our web host, Cloudflare, like any website. Opening the app does not send your drawings anywhere.
